Common Phrases
Does HSK 2 Have a Speaking Test?
No. The HSK 2 exam is listening and reading only, so speaking is not required to pass. Under the HSK 3.0 standard, spoken Chinese is not formally tested until HSK 3, which makes HSK 2 a low-pressure place to start building the habit.
Saying the words out loud is still the fastest way to make them stick. The phrases and dialogs above let you rehearse the 200 Level 2 words in real sentences, practicing pronunciation, tone, and rhythm, so that when spoken Chinese does count at HSK 3 you already have a foundation. It also sharpens the listening and reading you are tested on now.
