1. Explain it simply
往 (wǎng) means 'towards' and points a movement in a direction.
The order is 往 + direction word + verb: 往前走, 往左看, 往右走.
The whole 往-phrase comes before the verb, never after it.
2. Show examples
往前走。
Wǎng qián zǒu.
Go straight ahead.
往 + direction + verb
到前面往右走。
Dào qiánmiàn wǎng yòu zǒu.
Go to the front, then turn right.
往右走 = turn right
往左看,有一个宾馆。
Wǎng zuǒ kàn, yǒu yī ge bīnguǎn.
Sandhi:Wǎng zuǒ kàn, yǒu yí ge bīnguǎn.
Look left, there's a hotel.

3. Share a tip
Keep the order 往 + direction + verb. Say 往前走, not 走往前 — the direction always comes before the verb of motion.
