Fairly OK (还…)

1. Explain it simply

还 + adjective means 'passably / so-so' - not great, not bad.

Common answers are 还好, 还行, and 还可以.

Here 还 is not 'still' or 'also'; it softens the adjective to 'fairly'.

2. Show examples

你身体怎么样?还好。

Nǐ shēntǐ zěnmeyàng? Hái hǎo.

How's your health? It's OK.

还好 = so-so

这件衣服大吗?还行。

Zhè jiàn yīfu dà ma? Hái xíng.

Is this garment big? It's alright.

还行 = alright

昨天的考试怎么样?还可以。

Zuótiān de kǎoshì zěnmeyàng? Hái kěyǐ.

How was yesterday's exam? Not bad.

还可以 = OK
